Weekly kit sizing myths, busted. Learn how Hobonichi Cousin weekly kits actually fit, why placement matters, and what to check before you buy.
Quick answer
No, a Hobonichi Cousin weekly kit does not automatically fit every weekly page. Fit depends on the kit's sheet size and whether it was designed for the Cousin weekly layout. Our kits are 7 x 5 inch sets made for Hobonichi Cousin weekly pages, so check the product listing before you buy.
Why 'one kit fits all' is a risky assumption
Planner stickers are not universal. A kit made for one planner's weekly spread can be too wide, too tall, or misaligned on another layout, even if both planners look similar at a glance. The Hobonichi Cousin weekly page has its own proportions, and a kit built for that page will place more cleanly than a generic weekly set.
That is why the safest approach is to match the kit to the planner layout it was designed for, not to assume any weekly kit will work on any weekly page.
What our Cousin weekly kits actually specify
Our Hobonichi Cousin weekly kits are sold as two-sheet sets, each sheet 7 x 5 inches, and the listings state that they fit Hobonichi Cousin weekly pages. That is the key fact to rely on. The listings do not claim universal fit across other planner brands or layouts, so treat any 'fits everything' expectation as a myth.
If you use a different weekly planner, the honest answer is that fit is not guaranteed. You may need to trim or reposition pieces, and some elements may not align with your page structure.
The exception: placement still matters
Even a kit designed for the Cousin weekly page can look off if you place it without checking your page layout first. The kit fits the page, but your planning style determines where each piece goes. Leave room for your own writing, and decide whether you want a full decorated spread or a lighter overlay before you peel anything off the sheet.
This is not a defect in the kit. It is a placement decision you control.
Fit myths: verdicts
- Myth: any weekly kit fits any weekly planner.: False. A kit fits when it was designed for that planner's weekly layout. Our Cousin weekly kits are listed for Hobonichi Cousin weekly pages, not as universal fits. Check the listing's stated planner fit before buying, not just the word 'weekly'.
- Myth: if the sheet size matches, the fit is guaranteed.: Not enough on its own. Sheet size is only one factor; the kit also needs to be designed for the Cousin weekly page, which our listings state explicitly. Use sheet size as a secondary check, and the stated page fit as the primary one.
- Myth: a kit that fits the page needs no placement planning.: False. Fit and placement are separate. The kit can fit the page while still needing deliberate placement to leave room for writing and to match your spread style. Lay the pieces on the page before sticking to confirm your layout.
- Myth: if it does not fit perfectly, the kit is faulty.: Not necessarily. Our kits are made for the Cousin weekly page. Using them on a different planner is outside that stated fit, so trimming or adjusting is expected rather than a defect. Match the kit to the planner it was designed for to avoid unnecessary adjustments.
